| Obverse description | The obverse features the right-facing diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as sculpted by Ian Rank-Broadley, set within a central medallion whose field is decorated with an intricate mosaic or cracked-earth pattern. The circular legend surrounding the effigy reads 'ELIZABETH II · SOLOMON ISLANDS · 8 DOLLARS' and '· 3OZ AG 999.9 ·', with the engraver's initials 'IRB' visible below the truncation. | Reverse description | The reverse presents a vivid, fully coloured composition depicting the frontal face of a jaguar rendered in a richly ornamental, Mesoamerican-inspired style. The jaguar's face fills the centre of the shaped flan, with piercing green eyes gazing directly forward and spotted brown and amber fur rendered in elaborate detail. The forehead is adorned with a stylised Aztec calendar or sun-disc motif, flanked by sweeping decorative elements incorporating bold geometric and foliate patterning in deep blues, greens, and multicoloured hues. A large, brightly coloured butterfly with spread wings is depicted perched atop the jaguar's head, dominating the upper portion of the flan, while the lower section features a symmetrical mandala-like panel with jewel-toned spherical accents.
