Obverse description The sixth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as modelled by Jody Clark, occupies the central field in right-facing profile. The Queen is depicted wearing the George IV State Diadem, pearl drop earrings, and a pearl necklace, rendered in fine relief against a frosted mirror field. The engraver's initials 'JC' appear below the truncation of the bust. The arcing legend 'ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA' runs along the upper periphery, while the lower field carries the inscriptions '5oz 9999 Ag' to the left and '8 DOLLARS' to the right, denoting the coin's fine silver weight and face value.
