Additional information

The Kookaburra series, running since 1990, changes its reverse design annually — a deliberate strategy by the Perth Mint to drive collector demand through artificial scarcity of each year's design rather than limited mintage alone. The 8-dollar denomination in this series corresponds to the 5-troy-ounce format, a size introduced to satisfy bullion investors wanting heavier silver exposure without moving to kilo coins.

The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, was adopted by the Perth Mint slightly later than some other Commonwealth mints following her death in September 2022.
