The Kookaburra series has run continuously since 1990, with Perth's commitment to an annual design change making it one of the longer-running silver bullion programs of the modern era. The 6th portrait of Elizabeth II — sculpted by Jody Clark and adopted by the Royal Mint in 2015 — reached Australian coinage on a delay, appearing on Perth issues only from 2019 onward as the mint transitioned its obverse dies.
The 155.5g five-troy-ounce format was introduced to the Kookaburra program to capture collector demand sitting between the standard one-ounce and the ten-ounce offerings.
