Additional information

The Wedge-Tailed Eagle series from Perth has run long enough to develop a genuine collector following, but the high-relief strikes — produced on specially prepared planchets with multiple die passes — represent a distinct subset. Perth's high-relief technique, refined through the early 2010s, requires slower production rates and significantly higher die attrition, which naturally constrains mintage without any formal cap needing to be imposed.

The eight-dollar denomination is a Perth idiosyncrasy, tied to the five-troy-ounce silver weight rather than any legal tender convention.
