The Australian Silver Swan series launched in 2017 as a direct competitor to established annual silver bullion programs, with Perth targeting the same collector-investor crossover market that had driven the Lunar series to international success. The high-relief proof variant sits above the standard bullion strike in the production hierarchy — Perth's high-relief dies operate under significantly greater pressing pressure and yield far fewer coins per die pair, which constrains mintage in ways the standard issue is not.
The 2018 proof mintage was capped at 500 pieces worldwide.
