Obverse description Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III after the portrait by Martin Jennings, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the upper left periphery and AUSTRALIA along the upper right, with the denomination 8 DOLLARS inscribed along the lower arc, all separated by raised bullet points. A circular privy mark depicting a wedge-tailed eagle in flight, engraved by Dan Thorne and initialled DT, is positioned at the top of the field above the royal portrait. The engraver's initials DT appear discreetly at the truncation of the bust.
