The obverse legend reads DVX • GVB • RP • GENV, identifying the Doge and Governor of the Republic of Genoa, interrupted by a cross pattée at the commencement. The overall style is characteristic of hammered billon small coinage of the late sixteenth to early seventeenth century. |
