Reverse description The reverse features four inscription elements disposed around the central square perforation. A single Chinese character 當 (Dang, meaning 'worth') appears above the hole and the numeral 八 (Ba, meaning 'eight') appears below, while two vertically arranged Manchu script words ᠪᠣᠣ ᡩᡳ (Boo-di), identifying the Urumchi mint, flank the hole on the left and right respectively. The characters are cast in bold relief within a plain flat field, enclosed by a raised outer rim.
