The B.-A. Club was a British-run servicemen's club operating in South Asia during the Second World War — the initials most likely standing for "British-American" — and these fractional anna tokens served as internal scrip, allowing personnel to make canteen or mess purchases without drawing on official military currency. Private club scrip of this type was commonplace across British India during the war years, issued by officers' messes, clubs, and welfare organizations to manage small transactions and reduce pressure on the official coin supply, which was itself stretched thin.
