Obverse description Crowned and uniformed effigy of King George V facing left, wearing imperial state crown and military dress adorned with epaulettes and decorations, modelled by Edgar Bertram MacKennal. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the crown's arched bands and beaded border. The circular Latin legend GEORGE V KING EMPEROR runs along the periphery, divided at the top by a small ornamental cross and at the base by the truncation of the bust. A raised rim frames the entire design.
