Antissa was one of the five ancient cities of Lesbos, located on the island's northwest coast. It was forcibly depopulated by Rome in 167 BC following the Third Macedonian War — its inhabitants relocated to Methymna as punishment for supporting Perseus of Macedon. That political erasure effectively ends the municipal coinage sequence, making 167 BC a hard terminus for issues from this mint.
