| Reverse description | The oval reverse features an elaborate abstract design evoking the spiral structure of the cochlea of the inner ear, composed of two interlocking motifs: on the right, a series of concentric arcs forming a tight logarithmic spiral, and on the left, a pattern of radiating parallel grooves suggesting a cross-section of the basilar membrane. The spiral is annotated along its progressively widening bands with a sequence of sound frequencies — 200 Hz, 400 Hz, 600 Hz, 800 Hz, 1000 Hz, 1500 Hz, 2000 Hz, 3000 Hz, 4000 Hz, 5000 Hz, 7000 Hz, and 20000 Hz — referencing Békésy's tonotopic mapping of the cochlea. A lengthy Hungarian inscription curves around and through the design recounting the scientific achievement, alongside the denomination 7500 FORINT, the mint mark B.P., and the issuer and date MAGYARORSZÁG 2022 along the lower rim. |
