Additional information

Yemen's 1975 Olympic issue was struck not because Yemen had any meaningful presence at the 1976 Montreal Games, but because the commemorative coin market of the 1970s rewarded any issuer willing to license Olympic imagery — the IOC actively sold those rights to small nations as a revenue stream. Dozens of countries with negligible Olympic programs issued gold pieces for Montreal under this arrangement.

The Central Bank contracted production through a European mint rather than striking domestically.
