A narrative text in Gothic script runs along the left margin and lower border, recounting Napoleon's overnight stay at the building and his subsequent flight when disturbed by Cossacks in 1813. A figure in period dress stands before the building at lower centre, with a sign reading 'Ratskeller' visible on the facade, and an artist's signature 'J. Hoffmann' appears at lower right. |
