Landsberg in Oberschlesien — now Górki Śląskie in Poland — issued this Notgeld in 1921 at a moment of acute political uncertainty. The Upper Silesian plebiscite had taken place in March of that year, with the partition question still unresolved; the town would ultimately be assigned to Germany before the final border adjustment transferred the region to Poland in 1945. Local Notgeld from this period was as much a statement of municipal presence as it was a solution to the small-change shortage that plagued post-war Germany.
The 75-Pfennig denomination is one of the less common values in provincial Notgeld issues, most series favoring 25, 50, and 1-Mark denominations.
