| 备注 |
The Brocken summit, at 1,141 meters the highest point in the Harz, drew enough tourist traffic in the early 1920s that the inn operating there had practical reason to issue its own emergency currency. This is Notgeld in the most literal sense — small change had simply vanished from circulation as Germans hoarded metal during the inflationary spiral, and a mountaintop establishment couldn't rely on delivery of coins that nobody was spending anyway. Appelhans Verlag in Braunschweig was a prolific printer of Harz-region Notgeld during this period, supplying numerous local issuers across the same tight geography.
F. Jüttner's design work appears across several Notgeld issues of the era, suggesting a professional illustrator working on commission rather than a one-off local arrangement. The signature of Rudolph Schade as issuing authority places accountability squarely with the Brockenwirt's management.
