Crivitz is a small market town in Mecklenburg, and its 1922 notgeld issue belongs to the second wave of German municipal emergency money — the so-called "Serienscheine" produced not from genuine currency shortage but from collector demand. By 1922, many towns were printing denominations like this 75 Pfennig specifically to sell to philatelic and notgeld collectors, generating municipal revenue with almost no expectation that the notes would ever be tendered for goods.

Inflation was accelerating sharply through 1922, and most of these Mecklenburg issues were obsolete within months of printing.
