正面描述 The obverse carries a humorous low-German folk illustration in a woodcut style printed in black and green. A large central figure of a night watchman strides across an icy winter landscape, raising a horn to his lips while carrying a lantern; smaller silhouetted figures skate and play in the background beneath a star-filled sky, with a stylised sun and conifer trees at the margins. To the right, a Low German verse in letterpress recounts the tale of Michel mistaking the moonlight for a fire alarm; the date and issuer authority 'BEVERSTEDT, D. 15. JAN. 1922 / DER FLECKENVORSTEHER' with the manuscript signature of Hölling appear in a green band along the lower border.

备注

Beverstedt is a small market settlement — a Flecken — in Lower Saxony, and like hundreds of similarly modest German communities in 1922, it issued its own emergency paper currency as hyperinflation gutted the Reichsmark's purchasing power. The Notgeld program allowed municipal and local authorities to fill the coin shortage left by wartime metal requisitioning, and by 1922 the practice had evolved into a minor collecting craze, with some issues deliberately printed in short runs to sell to hobbyists rather than to circulate.

The single signature — Hölling — almost certainly represents a local administrative signatory rather than a bank official. The DeNG reference grouping of three variants (98.1–3) suggests the series was issued across multiple designs or dates under the same authorization.
