At the lower left, the serial number and validity clause 'Gültig bis 1. Aschersleben's municipal savings bank issued this Notgeld note during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany through 1921, when coin metal was being hoarded faster than the mint could replace it. The Stadtspaarkasse — a civic rather than commercial institution — had the authority to issue emergency denominations locally, and did so alongside dozens of similar bodies across the Prussian province of Saxony.
Krelle's involvement suggests local production; Aschersleben had a modest but active printing trade in this period. The 75-Pfennig denomination is among the less common in this series — issuers typically anchored their sets at 25 and 50 Pfennig, making the three-quarter-mark value something of an outlier.
