Nordhausen notgeld from the early 1920s inflation period is common enough, but the print date here is the anomaly worth noting. April 30, 1921 aside — if the catalog records a press date of 30.04.1945, that falls in the final days of World War II, when Nordhausen itself was in ruins. Allied bombing on April 3–4, 1945 had already devastated the city and killed thousands, many of them concentration camp prisoners from the nearby Dora-Mittelbau complex.
Whether that 1945 date reflects a genuine reprinting, a late administrative stamping, or a cataloger's transcription error is unresolved in the literature.
