Randow was a rural district southeast of Stettin in Pomerania, and like hundreds of German administrative bodies in 1921, it issued Notgeld to address the chronic small-change shortage that had plagued circulation since the war years. The Kreiskommunalkasse — the district's communal cash office — was the issuing authority rather than any commercial bank, which was typical for county-level emergency issues of this period.
M. Bauchwitz was a Stettin printer with a regional rather than national profile, and the designer credit to H. Schubert is unusual enough to be worth noting — most Notgeld at this administrative level went to press without any named designer at all.
