Juli 1921. Der Magistrat 75 Pfg. LOUIS KOCH, HALBERSTADT. |
| 裏面の説明 | Dark blue-grey reverse printed in the same letterpress style as the obverse. A large central vignette illustrates underground potash and rock salt mining operations ('Füllarbeit') at a depth of approximately 450 metres, with several workers shown loading ore into a mine cart amid a rocky subterranean setting. Flanking scrollwork cartouches carry the inscription 'Kali- u. Steinsalz-' on the left and 'gewinnung' on the right, while wheat-ear ornaments border the design vertically. The denomination '75' in large numerals with 'Pfge.' appears at lower left and right. |

Leopoldshall was a small industrial town in Saxony-Anhalt, closely tied to the potash mining industry that dominated the region in the early twentieth century. By 1921, the post-WWI inflation crisis had made small-change coinage effectively vanish from circulation — municipal and commercial issuers across Germany filled the gap with Notgeld, and Leopoldshall was among hundreds of such bodies issuing their own emergency fractional notes that year.
Louis Koch in Halberstadt was a regional printer responsible for a number of Notgeld series across central Germany, not one of the major specialist houses. The three-variant structure indicated by the reference suffix suggests the series was issued across at least three design or date states.
