Labes (now Łobez, Poland) was one of hundreds of small Pomeranian towns that resorted to locally printed Notgeld during the postwar inflation years, but having your emergency currency printed by a firm whose name literally translates as "Otto Moldy-penny" lends this particular note a certain unintended irony. Schimmelpfennig operated as a local printer rather than a specialist banknote firm, and the quality of production reflects that — registration inconsistencies are common across the series.
