Obverse description The obverse is printed in multicolour letterpress in shades of green, ochre, and brown, with decorative vignettes of wheat sheaves at upper left and thistles at upper right flanking a central panel bearing the municipal coat of arms of Erkelenz — a shield divided showing a crenellated wall with a lion above and a six-pointed star below. The denomination '75' appears in large Gothic numerals at each corner, repeated in smaller form within border boxes, while the value inscription 'Fünfundsiebzig Pfennig' is rendered in bold blackletter script to either side of the arms. The lower portion carries the issuing authority 'Stadt Erkelenz', the date '22. August 1921', a redemption clause in blackletter script, and a facsimile signature of the Bürgermeister.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large oval vignette rendered in rich multicolour letterpress, illustrating an industrial landscape of factory buildings, numerous smoking chimneys, and a tall central derrick tower with crossed drilling tools and mining equipment at its base, evoking the regional extractive industries. Busts of male workers are set at the lower left and right corners outside the oval, while the denomination '75' appears in Gothic numerals at upper left and right. Two lines of blackletter inscription frame the composition at the top and bottom, referencing the mineral resources of the region.
Reverse lettering Erdöl, Kali, Erze, Gold und Kohlen
