Bad Suderode is a small spa town in the Harz region of Saxony-Anhalt, and like hundreds of German municipalities in 1921, it issued Notgeld to alleviate the chronic small-change shortage that followed the First World War. The 75 Pfennig denomination is slightly unusual — most municipal Notgeld series gravitated toward round figures like 25, 50, and one Mark — suggesting this was part of a deliberately tiered series designed to cover a specific range of low-value transactions.
Harz-region Notgeld from this period was frequently printed by local or regional printers on short runs, and survival rates vary considerably by municipality. Bad Suderode's issues are not among the well-documented series.
