Reverse description The reverse is enclosed by decorative borders of green foliage and cornucopias at left and right, each incorporating a shield bearing the denomination numeral 75 in gold. The central vignette, executed as a bold silhouette composition signed by the artist Schlemetzien, illustrates the local Geldern dragon legend: a winged dragon swoops across the sky above a village silhouette and a medieval tower, while a figure armed with a pitchfork confronts the beast at lower left. The scene is framed above and below by couplets in Low German dialect.

Geldern's 1921 Notgeld series was among hundreds issued by German municipalities scrambling to cover the chronic small-change shortage that followed the First World War — Reichsbank coin had effectively vanished from circulation as metal values outpaced face values. The Stadt Geldern contracted Rats-Druckerei R. Dulce in Glauchau, Saxony, a printer active across multiple regional Notgeld commissions during this period, rather than using a local press.

The DeNG reference 1/2#416.1-6/8 indicates this note belongs to a numbered variant run of at least eight types within the series — collectors have long distinguished these by minor typographic and color differences across the individual values.
