Two symmetrical vignettes of female bathers in black swimsuits, each holding a red parasol over her shoulder, are seated on a ledge flanking a central cartouche. The cartouche, in green and blue, bears the issuer inscription and a validity notice, with a manuscript signature of the Gemeindevorstand below; the denomination numerals '75' appear in large outline lettering across the upper field.

Opmerkingen

Sellin was a small Baltic resort town on the island of Rügen, and this 75 Pfennig note is Notgeld — emergency local currency issued by municipalities during the acute coin shortages that plagued Germany from roughly 1916 onward. The denomination itself is characteristic of resort-town issuers, who often chose odd values like 75 Pfennig partly to discourage hoarding and partly because collectors were already buying them new.

Stöckel in Hannover was a minor regional printer responsible for numerous Notgeld commissions across Lower Saxony and surrounding areas. The presence of a watermark is worth noting — many Notgeld issues skipped security features entirely, given their intended short circulation life.
