| Obverse description | Right-facing bust of Mahatma Gandhi, depicted in high relief with characteristic round spectacles and draped traditional garments, occupying the central field. Two laurel branches flank the effigy symmetrically at the upper left and right, forming a partial wreath above the portrait. The centennial dates 1869 and 1969 appear in the field to either side of the bust at mid-height. The curved legend CENTENARIO M.GANDHI runs along the lower periphery, separated from the field by a beaded inner border. The overall design is executed in a medallic style consistent with Italian die-engraving craftsmanship of the period. |
