The Ministero per i Beni Culturali e Ambientali issued a series of philatelic and numismatic souvenirs in the late 1970s, and this 75 Lire piece falls squarely into that category — a commemorative printed by the State Polygraphic Institute's own security press, intended for collectors rather than the cash economy. The face value of 75 Lire corresponded to the contemporary first-class postage rate, a deliberate nod to the postal-philatelic market at which these items were aimed.
