Rattenberg, wedged into the narrowest part of the Inn Valley, is the smallest town in Austria by area — a distinction that made its wartime and postwar notgeld issues something of a curiosity even at the time. The 75 Heller denomination sits in the middle tier of the series, issued as the Austrian crown collapsed under postwar inflation and municipal authorities across Tirol scrambled to maintain small-change liquidity.
Wagner of Innsbruck printed the bulk of Tirolean notgeld during this period, supplying dozens of municipalities. Consistency of press did not mean consistency of survival — smaller communities like Rattenberg issued in modest quantities, and the Jaksch/Pick reference for this series reflects genuinely limited documentation.
