Additional information

Issued as part of the RCM's ongoing series celebrating Canadian sports, this piece was produced for the centennial season of the Toronto Blue Jays — except it wasn't: the Blue Jays were founded in 1977, making 2013 their 36th season. Baseball's actual Canadian roots run considerably deeper, with Beachville, Ontario claiming an 1838 recorded game predating Cooperstown's founding mythology. Whether that history informed the commission is unclear, but the denomination itself — $75 — belongs to the RCM's mid-tier gold bullionette format introduced to bridge collector and investor demand.
