| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by the quartered arms of Castile and León, displaying castles and lions in alternating quarters, enclosed within a shield. The assayer's initial and the Potosí mint mark (P) appear flanking the upper portion of the shield, with the denomination numeral 8 visible in the field. A partial encircling legend in Latin reads PHILIPPVS IIII D G HISPANIARVM REX, though characteristically incomplete due to the irregular flan typical of cob coinage. The entire device is surrounded by a beaded or tressure border, partially visible on the irregular planchet. |
