| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Equatorial Guinea is centrally displayed, featuring a shield bearing a silk-cotton tree (Ceiba pentandra) over a stylized sea, flanked by six six-pointed stars above and surmounted by a further row of stars along the upper rim. The date 1996 flanks the shield at mid-field, split to left and right. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in three scrolls reading UNIDAD, PAZ, and JUSTICA. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE GUINEA ECUATORIAL runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 7000 FRANCOS is inscribed along the lower periphery in large letters. |
