Equatorial Guinea has a complicated relationship with the CFA franc — the country uses the Central African CFA franc (XAF) through CEMAC membership, yet issued a long series of commemorative pieces denominated in "Francos CFA" during the late 1980s and early 1990s that were essentially bullion-adjacent collectibles with no meaningful domestic circulation.
