| Opmerkingen |
Reader's Digest issued promotional "fantasy" banknotes in several European markets during the mid-2000s as part of direct-mail sweepstakes campaigns — envelopes arrived with a note that appeared, at first glance, convincingly real. Romania's version was denominated in euros despite the country not having adopted the euro currency, a deliberate choice to suggest a prize of pan-European scale. The 7,000 denomination has no basis in any actual currency system and was chosen purely for psychological impact.
These are not legal tender and never were. Collectible mainly as advertising ephemera.
