Opmerkingen

The People's Bank of China released this commemorative note in December 2018 to mark seventy years since the renminbi was formally introduced on 1 December 1948 — the date the People's Bank itself was established in Shijiazhuang, Hebei, consolidating several regional communist-controlled currencies into a single national unit ahead of the final phase of the civil war. The anniversary series was issued in a single denomination of 50 yuan and attracted immediate speculative buying, with secondary market prices spiking well above face value within days of release.

Paper rather than polymer, which distinguished it from China's earlier commemorative issues in the series.
