Obverse description Equestrian effigy of Duke Rudolph August in armour, riding a prancing horse to the left, the duke holding a baton or marshal's staff raised in his right hand. The horse is richly caparisoned with an elaborately decorated saddle cloth. The encircling Latin legend arcs around the upper field, with the denomination numeral '7' appearing in the lower field below the horse.

Reverse description Elaborate crowned and helmeted manifold achievement of arms of the House of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, comprising a large quartered shield bearing multiple heraldic charges including lions, horses, and an eagle, surmounted by multiple crested helms with elaborate mantling and crowns. The mint master's initials 'R B' appear flanking the shield in the lower field, with the date '16 86' split to either side at the base. The Latin legend 'REMIGIO ALTISSIMI' arcs around the upper portion of the coin.
