Obverse description Green-tinted letterpress postal money order on white paper, headed 'ORANJE VRIJ STAAT / POST NOOT' in large type at upper centre; a rectangular vignette at upper left bears the arms of the Orange Free State with the subsidiary inscription 'COMMISSIE LOON / TWEE PENCE', while the denomination tablet '7/6' is set in a boxed cartouche at upper right. The body carries bilingual printed text with manuscript entries for payee and amount, the words 'ZEVEN SHILLINGS & ZES PENCE' rendered in bold letterpress across the centre. Two circular official cancellation handstamps in blue-green ink are applied to the face, one inscribed 'BETHULIE' with the date 'DE 20 98' and the other 'GENERAAL POST KANTOOR... BETAALD'.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in pale blue-green ink on white paper as an offset impression of the obverse typeset, with the 'ORANJE VRIJ STAAT / POST NOOT' heading and the denomination tablet '7/6' legible in reverse orientation. The full body text of the money order is reproduced in this set-off impression, and blind offsets of the circular cancellation handstamps are visible through the paper where the obverse ink has transferred.
