Reverse description The reverse of this cardboard pattern piece displays a multicoloured layered cardboard substrate, revealing the internal construction of the trial planchet. Sections of red, blue, yellow, black, and white paper layers are visible across the octagonal surface, with faint impressed marks from the milling collar visible along portions of the periphery. This face bears no intentional numismatic design and represents the unfinished or backing side of the pressed cardboard pattern, consistent with known examples of Dutch Republic trial pieces produced for official approval purposes.
