Lubawka, a small town in Lower Silesia near the Czech border, issued this token as part of a wave of Polish municipal scrip that emerged in the late 2000s, when local governments revived the interwar tradition of complementary currencies to stimulate spending at community events and local markets. The denomination — seven "dzionków," a Silesian dialectal diminutive of "dzień" (day) — is deliberately folksy, a nod to regional identity in an area that was ethnically and administratively reshuffled after 1945.
