Beschrijving keerzijde Central field displays the elaborately engraved quartered arms of Bishop Hermann Werner von Wolff-Metternich, incorporating the arms of Paderborn and those of the Wolff-Metternich family, surmounted by a bishop's mitre flanked by a processional cross and a crozier, the whole set within ornate Baroque cartouche mantling. The date 16-85 is divided across the lower flanks of the escutcheon. The motto PROVIDE ET IVSTE appears along the lower portion of the inner field. Aanvullende informatie

Hermann Werner von Metternich ruled Paderborn from 1683 until his death in 1704, a tenure marked by aggressive rebuilding after the devastation of the Thirty Years' War had left the bishopric's finances and infrastructure badly compromised for decades. Multiple-ducat presentation pieces of this kind were not struck for circulation — they functioned as diplomatic gifts and marks of princely favor, and survival in any condition is accordingly rare. The 7-ducat denomination in particular had no transactional role; the weight itself was the point.
