| Obverse description | The central field features a detailed frontal elevation of the Tophane Fountain (Tophane Çeşmesi), an Ottoman Baroque public fountain erected in Istanbul during the 18th century. The structure is rendered with its characteristic pyramidal domed roof surmounted by a finial, elaborately carved frieze panels exhibiting floral and geometric ornament, and a recessed arched niche at the base. The national legend TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script. The denomination 7.500.000 LİRA and the date 1999 are inscribed in the lower field, flanking the monument on either side. |
