Aanvullende informatie

Issued under Turkey's pre-redenomination coinage, when the lira had depreciated so catastrophically that face values in the millions were routine for collector pieces. The 2001–2005 period saw the Central Bank of Turkey producing silver commemoratives with nominal values utterly disconnected from any practical purchasing power — the 7,500,000 lira face value here was worth only a few US dollars at contemporary exchange rates.

The redenomination came in 2005, when the Yeni Türk Lirası replaced the old lira at a rate of 1,000,000 to one, effectively erasing six zeros from the currency and retiring the entire commemorative series bearing these inflated denominations.
