(Translation: João V, by the Grace of God, King of Portugal and Algarves.)
Reverse description The full royal arms of Portugal set within an ornate Baroque cartouche, displaying the central escutcheon bearing five bezant-laden quinas arranged in a cross pattern, bordered by the castles of the bordure. The shield is flanked by elaborate acanthus scroll mantling and surmounted by a detailed royal crown with fleurs-de-lis and arches. The design fills the field almost entirely, with no peripheral legend, and the coin's milled border frames the composition.
