| Obverse description | Central field features the crowned Portuguese royal coat of arms, displaying the traditional escutcheon of Portugal with the five inescutcheons arranged in a cross pattern, each charged with five bezants, and the bordure of castles. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown rendered in high relief. The denomination 640 appears to the left of the shield, and the date 1695 to the right. The circular legend encircles the design, reading PETRVS II D G PORTVG REXD BR, referencing Dom Pedro II, King of Portugal and Defender of Brazil. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
