| Reverse description | Central design features a large armillary sphere with clearly rendered parallel bands and meridian rings, superimposed upon the cross of the Order of Christ, whose four arms extend to the coin's periphery and partially frame the sphere. The Latin motto legend is distributed between the quadrants formed by the cross arms, reading around the field. The overall composition reflects the Portuguese imperial maritime symbolism associated with the House of Braganza coinage of the late 17th century. |
