| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the royal cypher 'J' for King José I, surmounted by an elaborate Portuguese royal crown rendered in fine detail. To the left of the cypher, the denomination '600' is expressed in two curved lines of numerals arranged vertically, flanked by small pellets. To the right, three decorative rosettes or quatrefoil flowers are arranged vertically in the field. The date is inscribed along the lower portion of the field. The entire design is enclosed within a toothed border, with small pellets delineating the curved zones characteristic of this series. |

| Reverse description | Central device consisting of an armillary sphere superimposed upon the Cross of the Order of Christ, the cross rendered with splayed arms in the Portuguese tradition. The Rio de Janeiro mint mark 'R' appears in the field. The circumferential legend, composed of abbreviated Latin text, is arranged around the periphery and reads 'SVBQ. SIGN. NATA. STAB.', meaning 'Born under a steady sign', a reference to the Braganza dynastic motto. The design is enclosed within a toothed outer border consistent with milled coinage of the period. |
