Obverse description Crowned Spanish royal coat of arms displayed at centre, flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules with banner devices, all within a milled border. The quartered shield bears the castles of Castile and lions of León, with the central escutcheon of the Bourbons. The circumferential Latin legend reads partially around the field, with the denomination indicator 4R and mint marks visible to the left. The coin is struck on a host flan of a Bolivian 4 Reales piece, with the host type's devices still clearly discernible beneath the countermark.
