| Obverse description | Central field features a stylized architectural view of the Hilandar Monastery (Chilandar) on Mount Athos, rendered in an engraved, schematic style. The Serbian double-headed eagle coat of arms appears at the top center of the monastery composition, flanked by the Cyrillic inscriptions МАНАСТЕР (left) and ХИЛАНДАР (right). The founding and commemorative dates 1198 and 1998 flank a decorative quatrefoil motif at the lower center, marking the monastery's 800th anniversary. The circular legend САВЕЗНА РЕПУБЛИКА ЈУГОСЛАВИЈА runs along the upper periphery in Cyrillic characters, while the denomination 600 and the legend НОВИХ ДИНАРА appear at the lower rim, separated by raised dots. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a frontal, icon-style portrait of two bearded monastic figures rendered in the Byzantine artistic tradition, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The figures, identified by Cyrillic inscriptions in the field as Saint Simeon (left) and Saint Sava (right), the co-founders of the Hilandar Monastery, are depicted with elongated faces, prominent eyes, and flowing beards characteristic of Serbian medieval iconography. A stylized triangular nimbus or architectural element appears between the two figures at the upper center. A spray of foliage issues from below the figures, framing the lower portion of the composition. The field is otherwise plain, with no peripheral legend, lending the design a solemn, devotional character. |
